Difficulty in Swallowing

This is when food is swallowed and there is either difficulty in getting the food down to the stomach or swallowing is painful.

This is a symptom that nearly always needs investigation.

Typical causes of this are cancer or benign strictures. Referral with this symptom should not be delayed.
